Two questions about driving, Changing lanes, and merging highway traffic?

1. when changing lanes and you signal mirror and check over shoulder and there is a car where your turning do i stay my speed and wait for the car to pass or do i slow down and wait for car to pass?

2. When on a highway and your on a lane that has a merging traffic sign do you change lanes? and if so what if you cant because of traffic?

and if your on the merging road going to a highway do you wait for the cars in your lane to pass? cause i learned in drivers ed to not slow down when going to a highway?|||1. If your gonna end up merging close to where the car is you have to make sure to get behind it and this may include reducing your speed. Traffic already on the freeway always has the right of way so you have to yield to them.

2. You don%26#039;t have to switch lanes in this case but its a good idea to do so if you can. Remember, you have the right of way when your already on the freeway so you don%26#039;t have to legally make room for mergers. I always do if I can though since many drivers are idiots and will merge right in front of you causing to slam your brakes. To merge properly, you have to speed up and try to match the speed of traffic. Sometimes cars on the highway or freeway will let you merge if theres room and sometimes they won%26#039;t. If they don%26#039;t let you merge (they%26#039;re not slowing down) or theres no room to merge you have to let them pass or else you can cause an accident.|||1. Depending on your speed and length of the lane ending, its better to lower your speed little, let it pass and then join the next lane. If the lane stops, you must wait at the end on the lane so to join opportunity comes by.

2. While you are joining to hi way lane, YOU have the obligation to evade traffic. This means you must wait at end of the joining lane until opportunity comes to join the traffic, unless you have opportunity to join while on good speed.|||1. You can do either. If you slow down, the car passes sooner, but then you need to speed up to match the speed of traffic in the lane you want to enter. If you stay the same speed, it takes longer before the car passes.

2. You do not have to change lanes, but it is usually a good idea if you can. When entering, ideally, you find a gap between the cars, enter it, and do not slow down. If you cannot fit in between the cars, then sometimes you have to slow down and wait.|||1. you change lanes when you have a gap to do so, waiting for someone to pass you is not a good idea. Always do it when you%26#039;re rear bumper is a few feet in front of the other car%26#039;s front bumper.

2. This is called judgement. You don%26#039;t have to change lanes to allow merging traffic to enter your lane unless you want to pass more traffic. Always respect merging traffic and allow room for them to enter, slow down or speed up as needed. NEVER wait on a merging lane. It%26#039;s merging use your accelerator to move at the same speed as the highway so you don%26#039;t cause a jam. You will be wrong and cause an accident if you don%26#039;t use the merge lane to go from 30 to 65 or whatever the flow of traffic is. Use your mirrors and the lines.
