How long are dentists recommending to keep a toothbrush these days before changing to a new one?

And how much longer than that recommendation do you actually keep yours? How often do you change it on average? If you go for a cleaning every 6 months and get a free one, is that changing often enough? How long are dentists recommending to keep a toothbrush these days before changing to a new one? It's recommended that you change your toothbrush with the changing of seasons. Your dentist gives you two, you buy two. You should also change it if you have a really bad virus or infection.

Every 6 months sounds just a tad bit too long, but try every 3-5months at the most. Also, on your toothbrush there should be an indicator that wears out, telling you that its time for a new brush. My toothbrush has an indicator that it blue, and when it fades more than halfway to white, i change it.

Seasonally.

I read this somewhere and remember remarking to my self about it.

Each season is what - 3 to 4 months long? sounds about right to me!
dentists usually recommend that you replace your toothbrush every three months.
Three months.
my dentist tells me to change my brush whenever the bristles start to bend.
