How can you re-do a counter top?

We live in a manufactured home where someone decided that pink would be a great color for the counter tops. What are some inexpensive ways to change these counter tops, we cannot afford to purchase new tops. Are you able to paint these tops?How can you re-do a counter top?You can relaminate them, or pull them up add a layer of plywood, a layer of cement board and tile them. Another option is to check the materials for sale section of Craigslist. Maybe you can find someone who had descent counters that had granite installed and now they just want them gone.

Yes you can paint them..There are kits that mimic granite for just this purpose. You do need to take a bit extra care of them once they are done. For a typical kitchen the kit would cost about $ 40.00 It's a several step process and you need to allow time to cure inbetween the steps. Altho it can be done in place it is suggested that the counter be removed.

How can you re-do a counter top?
You can paint with simple latex paint, primer and sandpaper.



Sand until gloss is gone. Prime with a high adhesion primer, and paint with a latex gloss. Won't be permanent, will require care, but should go 2-3 years.
