My wife and I had an agent from Coldwell Banker we were approved 185k from the bank but wanted to get an 75-80k house. the gaent kept pushing for us to get 150k and up he stated its because I dont want to put you guys in a bad neighborhood,he emailed us and stated you can change agents if you like but I reuse to put you in a bad neighborhood so after we switched agents he wrote another email stating ..Thank You I was getting tired of wasting my gas driving around anyway.
WTFWhat experiences have you had with real estate agents?ouch that sucks!! We had a great real state agent. She worked for Keller Williams. We were moving out of state and she showed us 20 houses on each weekend that we came(for 2 weeks). I had her all over town. She even toOK my family out to dinner. She way very helpful and even emailed me pictures of houses. I told her my price that I wanted to pay and she was ok with it.
A real state person is not allowed to tell you if an area is bad or not or be able to profile an area either. I would contact his boss and let him know what kind of people he has working with him. Sorry of the bad experience!!!What experiences have you had with real estate agents?I had a horrible experience with a Coldwell Banker agent. I wanted him to sell my condo. He said that he would help me out by buying it for himself. He showed me comps to verify his offer price was fair. I sold him the condo. But, as it turned out, he only showed me the cheapest comps. I later found out that my condo was worth much more than he paid for it.What experiences have you had with real estate agents?I went through 3 real estate agents when trying to find my house. One guy kept looking where I didn't want to live and made it sound like I was messing up my life if I didn't go look at a house. Same with the next one, they kept looking in cities I specifically stated I didn't want to live in. Then found one that actually looked for what I wanted and made recommendations. They found me the perfect house in the perfect neighborhood but it also took months.
The real estate agent should really be working for you but some of them just look at the commission they will make. My dad told me not to buy the most house I could afford or I would be %26quot;house broke%26quot;. Your real estate agent was only looking at the most house you could afford probably for the commission. You'll find one that fits eventually. Good luck finding your home and don't be pressured or in too much of a hurry because you want one that fits you. It's a good thing you had the presence of mind not to listen to the jerk. The agent was only looking out for himself and the amount of his commission. If he really was looking out for your best interests, he would have made sure you did not buy a home you could not afford, but it seems like you ditched him, so no harm no foul. You should keep that email though and report him to the Commission on Real Estate Agents, (or whatever it's called), that was a very unprofessional reply.Congratulations for three things.
1. Your good approval
2. Your desire to keep your debt load down
3. For not letting this real estate agent push you in to a deal you did not want.
Real Estate agents get paid straight commission.
The pay scale is directly associated to the selling price of the property.
He just wanted you to spend more money, not caring about your financial goals.
Most states require real estate agents to act in a fiduciary (clients best interest) manner.
I would report him to the real estate board in your state.
