How do you feel about foreigners changing the language of our National Anthem?

At the rallies planned for May 1st,2006, those protesting on behalf of illegals in this country will sing the national Anthem in Spanish. As open minded as I am, I must draw the line here. It's like the German Anthem being sung in Turkish, or the English Anthem being sung in Hindi. While all those who are in our respective countries legally are welcome, they shouldn't expect/try to change the laws, language or culture of the citizens whose roots have been planted here many generations ago.If you come here legally, you're welcome-but you should accept the culture and language of the land in which you live.Again, what do you think? Please keep it clean! How do you feel about foreigners changing the language of our National Anthem?I don't like it either, it's going too far. I guess a lot of people really doesn't know anything about this immigration issue. It's pretty obvious that the protesters have a one track mind. Instead of gaining support from immigrants from other countries, creating a bilingual anthem which consists of spanish/english version seems to be selfish. This is one of the reasons why a lot of americans get angry at mexicans and this could be one of the reasons why the bystanders who were willing to support the latinos before might feel it offensive and withdraw their support. I thought the rally was supposed to be for immigrants, now I feel it's only for Latin immigrants.

Ask immigrants from other countries, there are certain rights this country has granted to Mexicans that were not granted to them. Really, the law here is kind of discriminatory, and they don't complain. If this immigration issue is to be a success for the protesters they need to understand that the focus shouldn't only be on Latinos, or it shouldn't be between Latinos and America BUT Immigrants seeking their rights.

I for one hope they get their papers, but I have to say there should be rules. A lot of immigrants came here legally and paid thousands of dollars to earn the right to be legal immigrants. They also sacrificed a lot working for their families too.

I believe these people shouldn't change the Anthem, it's an insult to the country, and an insult to those people who came here and worked hard to earn the right to be called Americans the legal way.

San Francisco, Los Angeles, Florida, Las Vegas, Tejas (Texas)... does it sound like spanish to you? Do you ever wonder why? I think it was worst taking them their lands than singing our Anthem in spanish.

I am sorry, I do not agree with The National Anthem being sung in Spanish. I think it is disrespectful to America.
I agree. You move to another country, you learn the language, you don't expect them to change for you. That's b.s.

That'd be like if I were to move to France or something and try to make them learn English on my behalf. How self centered. Why should we or anyone else change for someone else? I think we as Americans need to stand up against this childish behavior.
national anthem should remain in english.
i think its disgraceful changing the anthem , and i couldnt agree more with you we must put a stop to their demands and just tell them hows it is going to be !
THIS IS NOT MEXICO. Our language is english and they can learn to speak it and become responsible legal citizens or they can go home to Mexico. How dare they sing our national anthem in spansih. That is disrespectful and just plain wrong! I hope INS goes on a spree and deports as amany illegal aliens as possible tomorrow.
I think it's a beautiful thing to translate our national anthem into Spanish. If someone wants to sing the praises of the U.S., let them do it in any language they want.
I do believe the Hindis DO sing the UK national anthem in Hindi. Do we care? Not really.
This is America and this country was founded by English speaking people. The National Anthem is an American song with English words.

I know 100% for sure that if we, the english speaking people, went to Mexico and sang their national anthem in english there would be serious troubles.

If these people want to protest then fine but they need to close their F****** mouths and do it through other avenues, not by standing in Americas streets looking like idiots.

My Grandfather came to this country from Russia legaly, but because of the cituation in Russia 60 years ago he was forced to change his name and go into hiding. He was seperated from his family but he still came into this country LEGALLY and had to wait at Ellis island before he could come in. How do the Mexicans get in? They sneak in. They crawl on their belly's like snakes, they scale walls like a prisoner escaping from prison, they swim in dirty water like leeches.

They come into this country dishonestly, like animals then they suck are country dry like a tick on a dogs A**.

If they want to protest then they are the ones who come across as IDIOTS and they too are just another tick on a dogs A**.

This is America, and in America we speak english. Unless you never learned the language then get to shool and learn it. I feel that when someone speaks another languge in front of those who don't then I classify them as rude and terrorist like.
