How do I get my google search results in the same windows even when changing the preferences doesn't work?

I asked the question how to get my google search results in the same window and was given an answer. To change the preferences but that works for the first search you do and then doesn't work again.

Does anyone know to to change it back so that the search results come up in the same window and stays like that. (the way it started out as). It has only been doing this recently and it would be great if someone could tell me how to change it.How do I get my google search results in the same windows even when changing the preferences doesn't work?hammer. or just a good thorough scolding

Search and then hit control t. It will bring up a new tab and then change your preferences click the x on the tab and it will bring you back to your search.

Could you possibly be using google's Advanced Search window to set %26quot;results per page%26quot;? When I used that, the setting is not saved (at least not very long). But since you are using the Preferences window to set %26quot;results per page%26quot; I don't know what is happening. When I set the Preferences %26quot;results per page%26quot; it seems to be saved OK.

BUT (on a little more googling) you do need to have your google cookies enabled, according to this article from google about the %26quot;displaying more results per page%26quot; preference: http://www.google.com/support/websearch/鈥?/a>
