Is using a turn signal when changing lanes a law in California?

Hi, I was just wondering if you are required by law to use the blinkers when changing lanes. I know the CA DMV driver's handbook says to do so, but is it an actual driving law?

And can you get a ticket for not using the signal when changing lanes?

Thanks for your feedback. :)Is using a turn signal when changing lanes a law in California?Yes. Failure to do so will almost likely result in a citation.

When cited for a moving infraction, a driver is cited under the vehicle code which is a codified authority. In other words, it is lawful for a police official to issue you a ticket.

Yes, and the police here take it seriously.

If it is* a law, about 90% of Californians would have gotten tickets because of it.

Forget the law; it's common courtesy.
THE NEXT TIME SOMEONE TURN IN FRONT ARE YOU AND CUT IN YOUR LANE AT HIGH SPEED YOU KNOW THE ANSWER.
Not only is it the law, depending on what you do for a living...drive?

It will cost you your job and license the second time you are caught failing to give one. oh...and 3 points

Get caught a third time...lose them for a year.

It's now considered %26quot;aggressive driving%26quot; in all 50 states.....but only if you drive a big truck. If you drive a car, you are permitted to kill 5 people before they bother you.
yeah it required but very few people use it . even the damn cops dont!
The majority of information in the DVM book IS the law too.

Signalling and shoulder checking BEFORE attempting any turn or lane change will prevent you from hitting something too.

Yes, there are fines for %26quot;failing to signal%26quot;, %26quot;failure to yield%26quot;, %26quot;unsafe turn or lane change%26quot;, etc.
