Does changing string brands for your electric guitar really affect the sound that much?

Say now you've got an electric guitar and an amp and you're using one set of strings... does changing them to another brand/type of strings while keeping all the settings the same really make that much of a difference?

Also, how will I know which strings will sound like what? The shops I see have hundreds or different types.Does changing string brands for your electric guitar really affect the sound that much? There will be a sound difference,

But on a scale of 1-10,

The sound difference would be between 0-1

There won't be much of a sound difference

unless its made from a different composite then it would not make much difference, its just the magnet picking up the vibrations

Yes it will make a difference, not a huge one but it will sound slightly different. Plus different types of strings will wear down faster than others which will 'deaden' your sound quicker, plus some also break easier than others.
The material that makes up the string makes a big differences as it determines how much of the note the pickups actually obtain.

And also the strings can affect how you play the guitar, this is especially true for bass guitars.
There isnt much of a difference.
